This is a guy that we haven't talked about since Maxwell was around. Max's political views scared the hell out of me, but this was one subject on which we easily agreed. Last weekend I picked up three live Neil Young CDs and Ringo's lp. I threw on the Young first and nearly a week later I can't take it off. This is no doubt one of the greatest rockers of all time. I started getting into this guy in '68. They played Woodstock in '69 and it made him and Crosby, Stills and Nash household names. While I've always liked CSNY it has always been Neil Young who was my favorite. I've seen him twice but not since '79.
I hadn't listened to him much lately, but these three CDs brought back so many great memories and refreshed my mind as to how great this guy is. He's done the Rock, Pop, Country and Headbanging Grunge. He can unleash his guitar into an acid rock jam like few can. He can play with Willie Nelson tonight and NIN tomorrow. He takes a back seat to very few. His version of "Imagine" from the Concert for New York City sent chills all through me, but having a 1968 concert where he does a full length version of Sugar Mountain is priceless. Y'all gotta discover this guy. He has to be listed among the top musicians of the last 50 years.
